Hi, I am Tamara and
I am a medical communicator.

I help medical organizations and professionals share knowledge, build relationships, promote diversity, and advance wellbeing. I have expertise in qualitative research, health and organizational communication, community-campus partnerships, multicultural medical education, and patient-provider interaction.

I am currently a researcher with the Department of Rehabilitation at Children’s Hospital Colorado.

Prior to this I served as adjunct professor of Communication Studies at California State University, Sacramento from 2011 to 2015. I taught courses in health communication, communication and culture, and communication and language.

I received my Ph.D. in Communication from the University of California, San Diego where I was a part of the Laboratory of Comparative Human Cognition and editorial assistant for Mind, Culture, and Activity Journal.

My writing has appeared in academic journals and encyclopedias, as well as in popular publications, such as Business Insider and TheMuse.com.

My professional interests are always evolving and I love collaborating on new projects. Tell me what you’re working on and how I might be able to help.

I am pursuing a degree in public relations. Will this degree keep me in a box from exploring other avenues? What other avenues can I explore besides public relations director or assistant director?
